INTENSIVSPRACHWOCHE IN ENGLAND

Our Travel Blog – written by students of 4A

48 students, 4 teachers, 8 days

1 goal: to impress everyone with our English skills

Day 1 – Wednesday

We all met in front of our school in Pöggstall for the bus which took us to the airport in Vienna.

At the airport we didn’t have to wait for very long. In fact it was a little bit stressful to get to the gate on time. However the flight was very relaxing and we also got a little snack.

When we finally arrived in Eastbourne we went for a walk to the beach where we took a lot of pictures. The pictures didn’t turn out that good because it was very windy.
After that we walked back to our language school where our host parents picked us up.

After that exhausting day we just ate our dinner, had a chat with our families and then went to bed immediately.

Day 2 – Thursday

In the morning we explored Eastbourne and our teachers showed us many different sights. I really liked the Wish Tower and the Eastbourne Bandstand.

We had a break on the Eastbourne Pier and after that we walked past the Congress Theatre, which is the biggest one in Eastbourne. We also saw the tennis court and we broke into Eastbourne College 😊 (and got kicked out shortly after).

In the afternoon it was time to go to school. The teachers there were quite friendly and they talked to us about the differences between Pöggstall and Eastbourne.

Later we went home to our host families by bus or train – all by ourselves!!

Day 3 – Friday

In the morning we had to go to school. After school we went to the bus stop to take the bus to Beachy Head.

After a lunch break on the cliffs we hiked to Birling Gap. When we arrived there we bought an ice-cream and relaxed on the beach. Some of us enjoyed the water, others collected shells or threw stones into the sea.

The cliffs are made out of chalk and they are very high.

After that we went to the bus stop and drove back to Eastbourne to get home to our host families.

Day 4 – Saturday

On day four we went to Brighton by train. It took us about 45 minutes to get there. We visited the Sea Life Centre, which is the oldest aquarium in the world. We saw many different kinds of fish and turtles and after a while we watched the sharks and turtles getting their food.

After that we we had a lunch break at the beach and we also saw a house that was built upside down.

Later we explored the Lanes of Brighton.

In the evening we went back to Eastbourne by train.

Day 5 – Sunday

On this day we went to London by train.

First we visited the London Eye and the view from the top was gorgeous. After that we explored the city. We saw Buckingham Palace with the King’s Guard standing outside. Later we walked to St. James‘s Park. We also visited Trafalger Square where we watched amazing dancers. Then we walked to Westminster Abbey and on our way we saw Big Ben. We also crossed Westminster Bridge.

At the end of the day we went on a cruise on the Thames.

I really liked that day because we saw beautiful and amazing sights and I’ve always wanted to see London.

Day 6 – Monday

On day 6 we took a train to Hastings. First we went to see Hastings Castle, we saw the last remains of the old castle. We also saw the prison that belonged to it. After a while we left and went to the Smuggler’s Caves. We learned a lot of interesting facts about the Smugglers.

After the caves we took a train back to Eastbourne to go to school there. In the evening we were looking forward to seeing our host families again.

It was a really wonderful day!

Day 7 – Tuesday

In the morning of day seven we had our last day of school. Some of us went to a restaurant for some cream tea, others went shopping for souvenirs or into a bookshop.

In the afternoon we met at the beach for a treasure hunt through Eastbourne.

We were in groups of three and most of us were able to finish the quiz in about an hour. After the teachers announced the winners (who got little awards) we all went into a pub named Bibendum to have dinner together. Most of us ate a burger which was excellent.

Day 8 – Wednesday

In the morning we got up, packed our suitcases and had breakfast. Then our host families took us to school where we met our teachers.

We took the bus to London where we visited the Tower of London and went for a walk across the Tower Bridge and along the South Bank.

We had to take the bus to London Heathrow where we got the plane at 7 in the evening. The flight was very quiet because most of us fell asleep.

Finally – at one o‘ clock in the morning – our families picked us up in Pöggstall. We were very happy to see them again after those 8 days!
